My name is Ginny and I want to introduce you to Susan Smith Jones, PhD. She’s an expert in healthy living at any age and has written a few books including UPLIFTED: 12 Minutes to More Joy, Faith, Peace, Kindness & Vitality and her new book for children titled Joy & the Butterfly about positive values, being kind to others and yourself, and finding the magic in ordinary days. I also know that the UP network is her favorite and she’s always telling me about what’s coming up and what I need to watch, too.
I first met Susan, and had an opportunity to see Susan in action, when she was giving a 45-minute motivational talk in Florida (she lives in West Los Angeles) to an audience of over 1,000. My friends and I had not planned to stay for the afternoon 3-hour workshop. However, Susan was so enthralling, captivating, and motivating in person, that we stayed for her workshop and we even called family and friends in the area to come join us. Her 3-hour workshop felt like about 30 minutes. Everyone in the room was overjoyed and ecstatic with Susan’s two presentations that day, and with her healthy living information, and her effervescent, enthusiastic, and very-friendly personality. I heard someone sitting behind me say of Susan: “I wish Susan was my next door neighbor. I would never be depressed and would be healthier than ever. and live a disease-free life.” Susan is one of those rare few in life who truly “walks her talk.” Sunny Susan, as I call her, is the picture of vibrant health and the personification of joy, balance, peace, happiness, and youthful vitality.
I introduced myself after the first presentation and we’ve been good friends ever since. I asked for her help on some health issues I was having and she has since helped me over the years and always makes time for me, her family and friends, and anyone who needs her guidance. She is kind beyond words and yet not many people know about her these days with so much negativity and hate in the country and world. More people needs to know about Susan and what an inspiration she is to everyone.
Since I know her well after all these years, I know that she hasn’t had a cold or flu in over 40 years and her passion in life is to teach people all over the world how to be vibrantly healthy at any age. It all stemmed from being in a terrible automobilie accident when she was younger that changed her entire approach to healthy living and learning how miraculous the human body is to heal itself, if given the right requisites for health. She looks about 30 years younger than her senior years and teaches people how to look to Mother Nature for the healing foods, herbs, spices, teas and other healthy living practices to keep the body and mind in the pink. Being healthy and positive is our God-given responsibility and she shows us all exactly how to do this. But Susan’s so much more than a shining example of youthful vitality, even in her 70s.
Susan’s common-sense approach to all facets of health, life, and living successfully is quite refreshing; her finesse for blending salient, funny points or stories into our conversations (and her books) keeps everyone keenly tuned in and eagerly awaiting her next visit by telephone, zoom or in person. Susan’s empowering healthy living tips are so enlightening and riveting that I usually take notes when she’s talking so I can more easily remember and incorporate her life-changing, practical and cutting-edge information. Her passion and goal in life is to help as many people as possible to reclaim their youthful vitality well into older age, and she believes that it starts with a positive attitude, counting our blessings every day, and always treating other with kindness — living by the Golden Rule. In fact, that’s the main focus in her recent books UPLIFTED, A HUG IN A MUG, and for children and the young-at-heart Joy & the Butterfly.
I have listened to her often during radio/TV/podcast interviews and she always uplifts and inspires the audience. She truly shines, as well, when taking questions or talking to the listeners. Knowing her as my friend, I know this about her, too: It seems that Susan has never met a stranger and can speak with anyone from all walks of life. She has a calm and peaceful demeanor, the humor of a comedian, the curiosity of a child, the wisdom of a favorite grandparent and the non-judgment of a best friend—all rolled into one.
More people should know about this remarkable lady. Susan is always filled with enthusiasm (she’s a faith-filled Christian with a commitment to living a God-centered life) and it’s catching. Radiantly beautiful inside and out, Susan is one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met — a perfectly balanced person of inner strength, kindness, humor, and a peaceful equanimity. A storehouse of life-altering knowledge that is always up-to-date, Susan is a Renaissance woman and gifted teacher who brings together modern research and ageless wisdom in all her work.
But there is also something else about Susan that is difficult to define. It’s her total consciousness of love, joy, and well-being. She’s like a breath of fresh air! We have all listened to or watched people being interviewed or who gave lectures in front of audiences who knew the material, but behind the scenes we were disappointed to find that they didn’t really live the truth they are teaching. I assure you that Susan embodies the truth that she shares. Her books are life-changing and her work has made a positive, profound difference in my life and many people I know. But more people need to know about this amazing lady.
And, I have one word of warning for you. Once you meet her, and you listen to or read UPLIFTED, A HUG IN A MUG, or Joy & the Butterfly (she sent me an advance copy to read for any typos before it’s printed later this month and every children worldwide needs to read this book and the magical story about Joy’s friendship with a butterfly who teach Joy many life lessons), you’ll be inspired to make some major lifestyle changes for the better. So, get yourself ready—for a healthier and more joyful, peaceful you will emerge once you’ve met this glorious Renaissance lady, Susan Smith Jones, PhD.
